Tough times get worse. As Bobbi Kristina Brown spends her second week in the hospital fighting for her life, her family is facing some serious inner turmoil.
The family members of the struggling daughter of Whitney Houston released a new statement to Us Weekly on Friday, Feb. 13, slamming Bobbi's cousin Jerod Brown and discrediting his statements to the media about the patient's condition.
"At this time it is requested that the media cease speaking with unauthorized members of the family," reads the statement to Us from Christopher Brown of Brown & Rosen LLC, legal counsel for Bobbi's father Bobby Brown. "The integrity of the events that led to the hospitalization of Bobbi Kristina must remain uncompromised. Various members of the family have provided media interviews, however, none of them are approved visitors to see Bobbi Kristina. None of them have firsthand knowledge of Bobbi Kristina’s treatment and the medical staff at Emory University Hospital has not communicated with them."
"In particular, Jerod Brown aka Jerod Carter aka YF Kennedy, continues to makes statements and appear on television, however, he has not had any communication with Bobby Brown or the Houston family," the statement continues of Brown's cousin, who has been posting updates on his Facebook page and set up a public vigil in Bobbi's honor. "He must be disregarded. Please do not attend any 'meet and greet' organized by Jerod Brown as he is unable to provide access to Bobbi Kristina or information on her condition. This is a criminal investigation and we do not need this side show."
Bobby Brown added his own words to the statement, saying of his daughter's health problems, "We continue to request privacy in this matter. We thank everyone that supports Bobbi Kristina and God is hearing our prayers."
Bobbi Kristina, who is Houston and Bobby Brown's only child, was found unresponsive on Jan. 31 in a bathtub in her home. In the weeks since, there have been conflicting reports from Bobbi's family members as to her condition, and few concrete updates on the status of her recovery.
