It’s a happy day for Jill Duggar and hubby Derek Dillard. The 19 Kids and Counting stars recently announced their first pregnancy and on Wednesday, Sept. 10, Jill happily revealed that she is 12 weeks and one day along.
This is a major milestone for the first-time parents, because the chances of an unexpected miscarriage drop by 80 percent after the first three months of pregnancy. Though many parents wait until after this point to share their good news in case they sadly lose the baby, the Dillards’ chose not to wait.
“We are so grateful to God for this new little blessing!” the couple told Us Weekly in a statement on Aug. 22, just 60 days after their wedding. “We appreciate all the well-wishes and are enjoying this new season of life as we look forward to parenthood!”
The newlyweds’ decision to announce the news early was carefully thought out, with Jill telling Page Six, “Understanding that the majority of miscarriages happen within the first trimester. And believing that every life is precious no matter how young, we decided to share our joyful news as soon as we could.”
