The mother of four begins her 15-month sentence while her also-convicted husband Joe Giudice takes care of the couple's four daughters Gia, Gabriella, Milania, and Audriana. Joe, 42, will then serve his own 41-month sentence after Teresa has completed her time.

Lawyer Leonard told ABC News that Teresa prepared herself for her time in prison by communicating with former Federal Correctional Institution, Danbury inmates. "They told her to keep her head up, that she would make it through," he told the news organization, adding that she was advised to be "friendly but guarded" during her time behind bars.

Teresa and Joe Giudice both pleaded guilty to fraud this past March, eight months after charges were first brought against them. The couple's oldest daughter Gia, 13, acknowledged the family's tough time on Twitter on Sunday evening.
