Wow, really? Bill Cosby made light of his sexual abuse allegations during his stage show in London, Ontario on Thursday, Jan. 8, by joking with a heckler about claims he drugged women's drinks, the National Post reports.
According to the outlet, and several audience member tweets during the show, the former Cosby Show star paused his routine when a woman in the front row stood up mid-performance to go get a drink.
When Cosby questioned her actions, the audience member explained she was off to the bar and asked if he wanted a drink.
Cosby reportedly replied, "I already have one," gesturing to his bottle of water. "You have to be careful about drinking around me," he added.
His quip elicited gasps from the crowd, which quickly became cheers and laughter.
Despite the positive reactions from most of the audience, Cosby was heckled by one male non-fan, who yelled at the stage during a different part of the show, "We don't love you Bill!"
The man and his friend were quickly removed from Ontario's Budweiser Gardens venue while screaming, "You are a rapist. I'm being ejected because you are a rapist." There were also a few dozen protesters who gathered outside the auditorium, unhappy with the venue’s decision to allow the now-controversial comedian to perform.
After the show, Cosby thanked his audience via a statement released by his publicist, and alluded to the one protest he'd encountered while on stage.
"Dear Fans: One outburst but over 2600 loyal, patient and courageous fans enjoyed the most wonderful medicine that exist for human-kind. Laughter. I thank you, the theatre staff (Budweiser Gardens), the event organizers and the London, ON Community for your continued honor and support. I'm Far From Finished," he wrote.
