We love Lucy!
Whether she’s working peacock earrings as Rosewood High’s most stylish student, or stomping her cowgirl boots to one of her country tunes, Lucy Hale always looks fabulous. But according to the Pretty Little Liars star, 25, dressing up to present at the 2014 Country Music Association Awards is a little daunting.
“I’m excited, but I’m equally nervous!” Hale exclusively told Us Weekly. “Just because it’s me—I’m not hiding behind a character—so I usually get a little more nervous for the music events. But I’m looking forward to a fun night and the performances. And what I’m going to wear!”
Though the petite brunette hadn’t chosen her CMA dress by press time, Hale did admit that she likes to surprise fans with her country-by-way-of-Hollywood ensembles. “People were surprised that I sing country music,” the American Juniors contestant revealed. “They’ll always be like, ‘Are you going to wear your cowboy boots?’ And I’m like, ‘No! I sing country music, and I still like fashion!'”
And speaking of the fashion she loves, Hale confessed that her all-time favorite red carpet look was the dress that she wore to last year’s CMAs. “It was almost fairy-like!” the “You Sound Good to Me” singer gushed. “I never usually wear long dresses, but it had all these spikes at the top. It was really edgy, but so classy at the same time. Somehow, we have to top that this year.”
Hale did reveal what would be in her bag at the awards ceremony. “If you’re looking through my purse,” Hale, whose debut album, The Road Between, was released this past June, “you’ll definitely find a pair of Ray-Bans, my makeup, a health bar, headphones, and Colgate’s Optic-White Wisps—those little mini-toothbrushes, they’re my lifesaver.”
But no matter what she chooses to wear, the “Lie a Little Better” belter will hold fast to her style motto. “People have an idea of how they think that I should look or dress, and I’m just going to be me,” Hale told Us. “I’m going to dress how I want to dress and do what I want to do. And that ties in with my music, too.”
