Who better to understand what One Direction is going through right now than their fellow X Factor stars, Fifth Harmony? In a new interview with HuffPost Live, the ladies opened up about their reaction to Zayn Malik‘s decision to exit the famed British boy band.
“[Our] only opinion is that we respect him and his decision to do so,” group member Lauren Jauregui told HuffPost Live.
“I think that One Direction is such an important part of some people’s lives, and it was just a dream for a lot of people,” Camila Cabello added, noting, “Like I was a huge One Direction fan — we all are. So it made people sad, but at the same time happiness and health is the most important thing. At the end of the day, he’s a person and he’s a human being.”
The ladies have gone through their own set of ups and downs, all auditioning to be solo acts on the hit music competition show before being put together to form the now-successful group.
But they’re enjoying the ride. They even got the chance to meet President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, whom they mention in their song “BO$$.”
“The first time we ever met [the Obamas, Michelle] told Dinah [Hansen] and Normani [Kordei] that she worked out to ‘Boss,'” Cabello dished of the fitness-focused First Lady. FLOTUS, she’s just like Us!
