An update on Jon and Kate! Controversial reality star mom Kate Gosselin looked completely different while reuniting with her ex-husband Jon Gosselin for a family yard sale Saturday, Oct. 25, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Wernersville, Pa.

The mother of eight, 39, looked like a different person with significantly longer locks, which were ironed straight and tumbled down past her shoulders. For the outdoor occasion, Kate wore very minimal makeup and looked slightly frustrated at one point as she was snapped beside her ex.

The former TLC star directed her children as they sold old family possessions like books, car seats, clothes, helmets, appliances, and more.

Her embattled ex-husband, meanwhile, sported scruff and shades for the occasion, as he appeared sentimental while sifting through the items laid out in rows. According to local radio station Y102 Reading, the “Gosselin Family Yard Sale” was filmed for an upcoming Kate Plus 8 special that will air this December on TLC.

After the sale, Kate tweeted thank you to those who came out to support the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, which received part of the proceeds.

Jon’s role in the sale remains unknown, though he has dealt with some financial setbacks recently. A source told Us Weekly earlier this month that Gosselin, 37, had been evicted from his home in rural Pennsylvania after he was unable to maintain payments to rent the property.

The former reality star was employed by a credit card company, which “lasted a few months,” the source told Us, but it didn’t work out as planned. “Now, he’s broke again,” the insider said, adding that while Jon was able to see his kids — twins Cara and Mady, 14, and 10-year-old sextuplets, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel — “they can’t stay over because he has nowhere to put them.” Find out more about Jon’s recent troubles.

After divorcing in 2009, Jon and Kate have publicly shared their differing philosophies on parenting their children. This past March, Kate told Us Weekly that her ex-husband’s outspoken remarks to the media meant very little to her. “I mean, everybody is entitled to their opinions,” she told Us. “I don’t let it bother me or affect me that much. I’m led by my gut, my heart, and doing what I’ve always set out to do as a parent.”
