‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival Adds Milo Ventimiglia’s Jess: Details

Rory is about to have options! Milo Ventimiglia, who played Rory Gilmore’s (Alexis Bledel) bad-boy boyfriend Jess Mariano on Gilmore Girls, is returning for the show’s Netflix revival, with the company announcing the news on Wednesday, February 10.

Ventimiglia, who is also known for roles on such series as NBC’s Heroes and ABC’s The Whispers, joined Gilmore Girls in season 2 as Luke’s (Scott Patterson) wayward nephew.

Rory and the hotheaded hottie had an up-and-down relationship, as he frequently butted heads with another love of her life, Dean (Jared Padalecki). Although some fans remain convinced that Jess and Rory are meant to be, their romance never recovered after he moved to California to live with his dad at the end of season 3, only making infrequent visits to Stars Hollow in seasons 4 and 6.

Ventimiglia is the second of Rory’s former suitors to join the fray, as her Yale boyfriend Matt Czuchry (Logan) will also appear in the reboot. Other previously confirmed returnees include Bledel, Lauren Graham (Lorelai), Patterson, Kelly Bishop (Emily), Keiko Agena (Lane), Sean Gunn (Kirk), Yanic Truesdale (Michel) and Liza Weil (Paris).

It is not yet known if Padalecki will appear in the four new 90-minute episodes. Melissa McCarthy (Sookie) tweeted earlier this month that she had not been invited to participate.

Following months of rampant speculation, Netflix confirmed last month that it is bringing back the popular series, which ran for seven seasons before signing off in May 2007. The revival’s title and launch date have not been announced.
