Now that's a power couple! Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg is reportedly dating again after her husband, Dave Goldberg, passed away unexpectedly last May. Page Six reported on Tuesday, March 1, that the bestselling author of Lean In has been spending some quality time with a longtime pal, gaming mogul Bobby Kotick, whose company owns Guitar Hero and Call of Duty.
According to Page Six, Kotick, 53, and the Facebook exec, 46, went public this past weekend at various Oscar parties in L.A. Sandberg and her rumored new beau reportedly attended a dinner together hosted by CAA head Bryan Lourd. After the show on Sunday, they also hit the Vanity Fair Oscar party.
Their romance only recently blossomed, Page Six reports. "Sheryl and Bobby have known each other for many years, through attending events like the Allen & Co. conference, but have only been dating for a few weeks. Things are very new," one source told Page Six. "Everyone is happy for her, because she deserves to be happy, and Bobby is great."
Billionaire Kotick is divorced. He is the CEO of Santa Monica–headquartered video game company Activision Blizzard and is known in the tech community as the "king of gamers." Activision Blizzard's impressive roster of video games includes gaming favorites such as Guitar Hero, Call of Duty, X-Men: The Official Game, Skylanders and many more.
Sandberg, for her part, tragically lost her husband of 11 years last May. Goldberg was 47 when he fell off a treadmill while vacationing with his family. In an interview with the Today show in December, Sandberg shared her journey after the heartbreaking loss.
"As I look to the new year, and my children and I have worked so hard to rebuild our lives and find happiness and joy and gratitude again, I think the support of strangers and our friends made a huge difference," Sandberg told Savannah Guthrie. "I always loved Facebook's mission, but now I feel even closer to it in, I think, a much deeper and more profound way."
She has yet to address her rumored romance, but in true Sandberg fashion, the exec shared a message for her fellow working women on the first day of March.
"Today marks the start of Women's History Month," she wrote on Facebook. "I love this Peanuts comic of Lucy leaning in—and hitting the nail on the head: 'How come we've only been studying men in History? Aren't we going to study women?' Let's study the women who changed history and our world—not just this month, but all year. #LeanIn."
