Surprise! Jillian Michaels is engaged to her longtime partner, Heidi Rhoades — and she has been for months. The Biggest Loser trainer popped the question during the season finale of her E! reality show Just Jillian, which aired on Tuesday, March 8.
Michaels, 42, got down on bended knee at a movie theater with the couple’s family and friends in attendance. But first, she surprised Rhoades with a video that featured photos of the couple and past adventures they’ve shared together. It also included photos of their loved ones holding up signs that read “Will You Marry Me.”
“I know I’m an a—hole all the time, but if you will continue to put up with me, I would like you to marry me,” Michaels said after Rhoades watched the footage.
“Heidi is the perfect person for me. The only place where there’s like a solace … a safe haven is with my family,” she added in a voiceover. “And Heidi is the nucleus of that family. She’s the glue that really holds everything together, and I think without that, I would be lost.”
Following the episode, Michaels fielded questions from fans via Twitter. When one asked how long ago they got engaged, she replied,

“About 4 months ago.”
Michaels and Rhoades began dating in 2009 and are parents to daughter Lukensia, 5, and son Phoenix, 3. Michaels adopted their baby girl from Haiti the same week Rhoades gave birth to Phoenix.
