It’s time to pick sides in the Donald Trump/Megyn Kelly debate again! The Fox News anchor opened up about her complicated relationship with the GOP presidential hopeful in her recent Vanity Fair cover story, claiming that the billionaire tried to “woo” her before he announced his decision to run. And naturally, the real estate mogul, 69, has responded with a new jab at the journalist, 45.
“He would send me press clippings about me,” Kelly told Vanity Fair of Trump. “He would just sign [them] ‘Donald Trump.’ And he called from time to time to compliment a segment. I didn’t know why he was doing that. And then when he announced that he was running for president, it became more clear.”
Trump spoke to The Hill about Kelly’s claims, saying, “The last person in the world I would try to woo is Megyn Kelly.”
The mogul went on to bash the Kelly File host, adding, “I’m not sure she can be fair and balanced because she has a thing with Donald Trump.”
The pair initially butted heads in August when Kelly served as the first 2015 GOP debate moderator and asked Trump to address his offensive comments about women’s looks. Trump later told CNN that Kelly had “blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.” (He eventually clarified that he was referring to her nose.)
At the time, the journalist declined to comment on Trump’s diss, but noted, “Trump, who is the front-runner, will not apologize, and I certainly will not apologize for doing good journalism. So I’ll continue doing my job without fear or favor. And Mr. Trump, I expect, will continue with what has been a successful campaign thus far.”
