There were almost two fewer ladies to keep up with! Khloé Kardashian reveals on Kocktails With Khloé‘s Wednesday, March 23, episode that she and older sister Kourtney Kardashian weren’t initially thrilled about the idea of starring on a reality show.
A preview clip shows the FYI talk show’s host, 31, revealing that she was “spiraling” after her dad Robert Kardashian‘s death from cancer in 2003. Khloé was 19 at the time, and she says that when she was 21, Kourtney realized that her sister needed something in her life beyond partying.
“She said, ‘We’re going to open a women’s clothing store, and you’re going to run it,’ because I just needed structure,” Khloé tells her guests about Kourtney, 36. “I needed something to do every day.”
In fact, Khloé was so dedicated to their Calabasas, California–based boutique, Dash, that promoting it was her main reason for agreeing to appear on E!’s unscripted series Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which premiered in October 2007.
“Kim and my mom really wanted to do the TV show, and Kourtney and I were like, ‘All we wanted to do was the kids store and Dash,'” the Strong Looks Better Naked author explains. “Ryan Seacrest was like, ‘Well, I only want you on if it’s a family show,’ so we said, ‘Well, if you film at the store, and it’s our commercial, then we’ll be on it.’” The rest, of course, is history.
Watch her discuss her wayward years in the video above.
Kocktails With Khloé airs on FYI on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET.
