Patriots Day will center on how the terrorists carried out their two bombings, which killed three civilians and injured 264 others on April 20, 2013.

Now 22 years old, Dzhokhar, a former University of Massachusetts Dartmouth student, was sentenced to death by lethal injection in May 2015. He is currently still serving time at a federal prison in Florence, Colorado. His lawyers appealed in January 2016 to reverse the conviction and to order him to pay $101 million in restitution to the victims. The case is still ongoing. Tamerlan was killed by police officers in a shootout a few days after the attacks.
