How are the planets aligning these days? With Mercury in retrograde, celebrities and lay people alike are going to be experiencing some odd shifts in the coming months, renowned astrologer Susan Miller tells Us Weekly. But what does the phrase “Mercury in retrograde” really mean, and what can people do to cope?

“There are only three planets that we feel the effects of very strongly,” Miller tells Us. “Mercury, Mars and Venus. And poor little Mars, he’s drunk right now. On June 29, he’ll wake up. It’s not like he’ll be ready to rock ’n’ roll, but by August 22, he’ll be back to full power.”

According to Miller, who writes in-depth monthly horoscopes on her website Astrology Zone, with Mars hiding out, it’ll “feel like you’re walking through glue.”

“Communication will be affected greatly,” the Planets and Possibilities author explains. “People are more likely to misinterpret you, and especially in email. Mercury is the planet of thinking and reflection and digging deeply, so everything’s going to take a little bit more time and a little bit more money.”

Additionally, Miller says, this time period is one wherein relationships may go haywire if couples aren’t careful about how they communicate with one another.

“In relationships, be sure you’re clear,” she says. “People can interpret things in different ways. You don’t want a comedy of errors, but sometimes it’s not funny. It’s not a good idea to break up when it’s Mercury retrograde because we become forgetful, we lose things, we only remember bad things and we’re not thinking clearly.”

Since Mercury went into retrograde on April 28, celebrity couples who have called it quits include Kylie Jenner and Tyga; Henry Cavill and girlfriend Tara King; Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne; Jenny Slate and husband Dean Fleischer-Camp; Emma Roberts and boyfriend Evan Peters; and Kristen Stewart and girlfriend Stephanie “Soko” Sokolinski.

Zac Efron and his girlfriend of nearly two years, Sami Miró, just missed the cut, having pulled the plug on their romance just before April 28.
