Move over, Justin Timberlake. It looks like Jimmy Fallon has a new BFF. The Tonight Show host teamed up with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for a hilarious sketch that saw the pair donning tuxes and pastel cummerbunds to play a couple of very awkward teens at their senior prom.
Set at Saugerties High School, Fallon’s real-life alma mater, the “Ermahgerd Prom Guys” skit featured the pair trying — and failing dismally — to talk to girls.
“Got your eyes on anyone tonight?” Fallon, 41, asked his pal, whose smile revealed braces on his teeth.
“Of course,” Johnson, 44, replied, with a nod of his teased hair, “but I like to just sit back and let ’em come to me.”
But when a girl named Stacey walked up to the pair to get a drink, suddenly their demeanor changed, and their jaws locked as they struggled to make small talk.
“Ermahgerd, Stercey,” Fallon said. “Yer lerk spertacular.”
“Woah, what the heck was that?” The Rock asked as she walked away.
Next it was his turn to talk to Britney.
“Ermahgerd, Brertny! May I have this dernce?” Johnson said, before he compared her to Beyoncé — “Hershterg, lemonerde.”
The third time was not the charm, as a girl named “Sterphernie” got grossed out by their attempt to make mashed potatoes by slowly chewing mouthfuls of chips.
And following in Nick Jonas‘ footsteps, for the second time this week, one of Fallon’s guests got a “berner alert.”
Finally, Fallon gave up. “We don’t need to dance with dates to have fun,” he said, telling the DJ to hit the music as they broke out their best boy-band moves (including The Rock’s impressive popping and locking). Ermahgerd!
It’s not the first time the Saturday Night Live alum and the Central Intelligence star have teamed up — last year they competed against each other on Lip Sync Battle, where Johnson crushed Fallon with a flawless cover of Taylor Swift‘s “Shake It Off.”
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs on NBC, weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET.
