Oprah Winfrey‘s dogs are a generous bunch. The media queen told Kelly Ripa and Josh Groban on Tuesday, June 21, that each of her beloved pups gives her flowers and a personalized card on holidays and special occasions.
“Your dogs are not ordinary dogs,” Groban said on Live With Kelly, where he was a guest host on Tuesday. “They presented you with a…flower presentation? Every year they give you flowers?”
“Flowers for Mother’s Day, flowers for my birthday, flowers for Valentine’s Day,” Winfrey, 62, confirmed, as producers flashed a photo of her five furry BFFs, each with their own bouquet and card.
“Stedman helps them write their notes,” the OWN creator said of her longtime love, Stedman Graham. “And there are individual notes from each one about what’s happened during the year.”
The notes are specific to each dog too. “Stedman writes in the dogs’ voices: ‘Thank you for the time I threw up in the middle of the night and you cleaned it up,'” Winfrey joked.
The Greenleaf producer (and recurring cast member) is actually happy to get her hands a little dirty when it comes to her dogs. But don’t ask her to pick up after yours.
“You should also pick up your dog’s poop, you know that. If you’re not doing that, you’re missing out,” she joked. “Isn’t it interesting how you can pick up your dog’s poop all day long, but you don’t want to pick up another dog’s poop? Other dogs’ poop is gross.”
