Running away from the question — literally! During a Saturday, July 9, run in Broadbeach, Australia, Tom Hiddleston politely shut down a local news reporter’s question about his superfamous girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
The 35-year-old actor — who is Down Under to film Thor: Ragnarok, reprising his role as Loki — was exiting his penthouse apartment to go for a morning jog when he was approached by Nine News’ Hayley Webb.
“How is Taylor enjoying the beautiful Gold Coast?” Webb asked Hiddleston, to which the British hunk hesitantly replied, “Uh, I … I’m not going to answer that if that’s all right.”
He then set off for an hourlong run, but Webb had another Taylor Swift–related query for the Avengers star upon his return: “What are you and your girlfriend looking forward to doing on the Gold Coast?”
“I don’t know,” an exasperated Hiddleston responded. “It’s just good to be back.”
By the time he came back from his run, an army of Swifties had lined up outside Hiddleston’s temporary residence, where the “Shake It Off” singer is staying with him. While Swift did not make an appearance, her fans were more than excited to see her latest love interest.
Hiddleston graciously posed for photos and met with diehard Swift devotees, some who drove hours just to catch a glimpse of the hot new Hollywood couple.
On Sunday, the pop star stepped out with her man for a romantic dinner date at Italian restaurant Gemelli. The pair, who touched down in Oz on July 8, held hands as they exited the eatery with huge smiles on their faces.
“Tom looked smitten with her as they talked softly and she giggled a lot,” an eyewitness told Us Weekly, adding that Swift’s complexion looked “a little more sun-kissed than usual.”
“They were beaming as they gave warm smiles to onlookers, like any new couple who just can’t hide their feelings for each other,” the source added.
Australian media outlets — especially morning news programs Today and Sunrise — have been tirelessly covering Hiddleswift’s trip to the Gold Coast.
“We’ve got a bit of a match made in heaven here,” Sunrise reporter Shaun White said of the duo as cameras followed their Friday, July 8, arrival at the airport and short walk through its hallways. “It was about a 2-meter walk, to be honest. It all happened so fast, it was like a ‘Love Story,’ one of her songs.”
Australia is the latest stop on Hiddleston and Swift’s international PDA tour. Before spending time in Broadbeach, they vacationed in Rome, where they visited the Vatican and the Colosseum. The twosome — who went public with their romance at Swift’s Rhode Island home in June — also traveled to Nashville, where Hiddleston met Swift’s parents, and to England, where the “Wildest Dreams” songstress met her beau’s folks.
