So long, #squadgoals! Hailee Steinfeld, a member of Taylor Swift’s world-famous group of girlfriends, revealed in a new interview that she and the pop superstar, 26, aren’t as close as people may assume.
Chatting with Seventeen magazine for their September cover story, 19-year-old Steinfeld suggested that her friendship with Swift doesn’t extend far beyond walking red carpets together, starring alongside each other in the celeb-packed “Bad Blood” music video and being oft featured on the Grammy winner’s Instagram page.
“I think people think we spend a lot more time together than we actually do!” the “Starving” songstress admitted. “She’s amazing though.”
Last November, Steinfeld told Refinery29 that maintaining friendships in the public eye can be rather odd.
“It’s weird, I guess. It’s different. It’s a weird sort of thing. I can tell you there’s a lot that isn’t observed, and those are some of my favorite moments,” the True Grit actress explained. “I have found that I’m rarely at the same place at the same time as my friends.”
Whether she gets to hang out with her pals in private or is forced to catch up at a Hollywood event, Steinfeld never turns down a chance to clock some quality time with her besties.
“If there’s a moment, whether it’s an awards show or a girls’ night in, no matter where or what it is, any opportunity to see my friends, I’m there,” she shared with R29. “It’s exciting and it makes it much more of a thing when we’re all together and it is public.”
