Blogger Melissa Watts doesn’t hold anything back. And that includes details about an afternoon quickie with her husband, Nolan.
“With one child at the neighbors’ and a baby asleep in the cot, it seemed like a perfect opportunity,” the mom of Ayden, 10, Ivie, 3, and Indie, 10 months, wrote in a July 30 Facebook post. “I mean, I’ve been turning him down for long enough I actually felt bad.”
Watts, who runs the parenting blog The Modern Mumma, went on to share that Nolan, 26, had been dropping not-so-subtle hints all morning. “I’ve had dad sex jokes thrown at me … Packages dropped on my shoulder, dry humping my leg and asking if I want sausage to eat,” the Australia-based writer revealed. “I may have to admit it was quick and slightly obligated.”
She continued: “I was definitely not prepared and thankful I was in my period undies (which have now become the daily undies) which have barely any elastic for quick removal.”
When it was over, Watts felt a feeling of relief wash over her. “Now I sit here in my pjs eating a block of chocolate, watching a movie, knowing I can go to bed without feeling bad … Totally worth it,” she explained to her nearly 50,000 fans. “Sometimes it’s worth just going with it. Silver lining, he’s happy for the next few days and I’m going to bed without d–k jabbed in my back.”
The post — which received more than 700 comments and more than 5,200 reactions — sparked a debate amongst other mothers. “I actually find this really humiliating and insulting,” commented one, while another praised Watts’ honesty: “OMG! I completely get this … My poor fella is lucky to get a hello some days.”
Watts tells Us Weekly she still enjoys being intimate with Nolan. “It’s not exactly handcuffs and whipped cream but it’s definitely there,” she says. “I think some people got the impression that I haven’t had sex with my husband in months and that I’m holding it against him!”
She adds that her husband was not blindsided by the Facebook post. “He is aware of everything I write,” she tells Us. “If he didn’t like it, I would delete it. This was written as a piece of lighthearted fun.”
