Chelsea Clinton Gets Choked Up During Mom Hillary’s Historic DNC Moment

Proud daughter. Chelsea Clinton was moved to tears during her mom Hillary Clinton‘s historic moment at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on Tuesday, July 26.

The mom of two, 36, sat next to her husband, Marc Mezvinsky, and politician Elizabeth Warren at the rally. She supported her dad, Bill Clinton, during his address, and cheered on Hillary when she made a surprise appearance via satellite from New York.

As previously reported, the former Secretary of State, 68, was officially named the Democratic presidential nominee on Tuesday night. She addressed the crowd after a video showed photos of all 44 male presidents. Chelsea stood up and began to cry when the screen digitally shattered and showed Hillary smiling.

“Hello, Philadelphia! I am so happy. It has been a great day and night. What an incredible honor that you have given me, and I can’t believe we just put the biggest crack in that glass ceiling yet,” Hillary said. “Thanks to you and to everyone who has fought so hard to make this possible. This is really your victory. This is really your night. And if there are any little girls out there who stayed up late to watch, let me just say, I may become the first woman president, but one of you is next.”

Last week, Chelsea came to Hillary’s defense amid attacks from Donald Trump’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio.

“When Republicans repeatedly get on stage at their national convention and toss attack after attack at my mom, calling her things I’d never say in front of my children — let alone on live TV — they’re talking about a caricature they’ve imagined, not the woman that I love and respect,” Chelsea wrote in a statement.

“My mom is compassionate, kind and hardworking — when I was growing up, it seemed like she could do anything. She’d spend all day in court litigating on behalf of children and families, then come home and ask me over dinner what I learned in school, what my favorite part of my day was, and what I hoped would happen tomorrow. And then she would sit with me while I did my homework or practiced the piano or worked on my science project,” she continued. “My mom has been fighting for everyday Americans for as long as I can remember. She’s smart, she’s strong and she never forgets who she is fighting for and why.”

Chelsea will next speak at the DNC on Thursday, July 28, when she introduces Hillary during the event’s final night.
