‘The Real Housewives of Orange County’ Recap: Vicki Gunvalson and Tamra Judge Taken to Hospital After Accident

Celebration gets scary. The Monday, September 5, episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County was all about Tamra Judge’s party at the Glamis Dunes! Would husband Eddie Judge enjoy his birthday trip to the desert? Would Kelly Dodd be able to behave herself? Would Heather Dubrow be able to tolerate Kelly? There were a lot of questions, but luckily the episode gave Us a lot of answers — though not everything about the get-together turned out to be fun and lighthearted …

Home Sweet Rentals

Meghan King Edmonds and Shannon Beador both flaked on the plans for Glamis by claiming their doctors told them not to go, annoying Tamra a lot. Tamra was pretty sure they didn’t want to go so they could avoid all the drama with Kelly and Heather and Vicki Gunvalson. (Little did Tamra know, Meghan and Shannon were skipping the trip to hang out together on a golf course!)

Shannon was panicking over some things a little closer to home than Glamis. Her house was finally bought, and now she only had 13 days to pack up her family, move out and find a rental home for the time being.

Also having habitation struggles was Heather, who was less than excited about the RV she had rented to take to Glamis. Sure, it had its own driver, and her personal chef, Jackie, stocked the fridge with pre-made meals, but Heather had thought she was getting a movie trailer, not a camper. Still, she had her 10-year-old son, Nicholas, with her, so she wasn’t too bummed!

“All I care about is that I’m here with you,” she told him as their RV pulled out and headed to pick up the other Housewives, who were all hitching a ride.

The Housewives Get Down With the Sickness

Elsewhere, Meghan was all about motherhood too, but in a very different way. She was at a fertility appointment to have a blood test and find out whether the two embryos she’d had inserted had implanted in her uterus.

She was so nervous! Luckily, husband Jimmy Edmonds showed up to this appointment even though he’d missed the majority of the previous ones, so she did have someone to hold her hand. After all the painful procedures, she still wasn’t used to needles, and she looked downright sick when the nurse took her blood.

Know who else was sick? Kelly, who threw up in the RV mere minutes into the journey, causing Vicki to start gagging loudly and everyone else to freak out.

Happy Days Are Here Again

Meghan finally got the results of her test, and guess what? She was pregnant! She still didn’t know if she would be having twins or just one baby, but she was happy and started to cry nonetheless.

Meghan wasn’t the only one who was excited over something offspring-related. Tamra was thrilled that her son Ryan Vieth was finally trying to work things out with the mother of his child, Sarah Rodriguez. They were in couples’ counseling, and even better, they had shown up to the Glamis campground to spend some quality family time with Tamra and Eddie.

Vicki was pretty over all the sentimentality, so she skipped out and danced up one of the nearby dunes. “Is she drunk?” asked Heather’s son. When Heather answered no, he asked, “Is she always like this?”

Pretty much, kid!

Danger on the Dunes

The next day, all the Housewives jumped into a dune buggy and took off! There was a lot of screeching, but it looked like they were having fun, at least. Everyone was laughing and screaming … until their buggy flipped over. Then, there was silence.

The producers really worried Us by going to a commercial then, and when the show resumed, it was revealed that Kelly’s helmet had flown off, and Tamra and Vicki were hurt. Medics rushed over, putting a stabilizing collar on Vicki, who was throwing up and crying. They also gathered around Tamra, who was lying immobile on the ground. Both ladies were pulled onto boards and transported to hospitals. Vicki was taken by a helicopter.

Back at the campsite, Kelly comforted Tamra’s mom while Heather called her husband, Terry Dubrow. Kelly and Heather even hugged, so if one good thing came from the accident, it’s that they seemed to have put their differences aside.

Heather called Meghan and explained what had happened. The call was pretty awkward because Heather and Kelly had expected Meghan and Shannon to go over to Palm Springs and visit Vicki, whose hospital was only 45 minutes away from the Edmonds’ residence. After she hung up, Meghan asked her husband why the other Housewives thought she should go check on the OG at all.

“Of course we don’t want Vicki to be hurt,” she told the camera, “but I don’t want to go visit Vicki in the hospital, because I’m not her friend.”

Something tells Us that statement is going to come back to bite her.
