When is it our turn to be an Olsen twin? Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen looked chicer than ever when they took to the streets of New York City for a quick breather this past weekend.
The 30-year-old sisters were photographed straight chillin’ outside their Manhattan office: chatting, sipping coffee and smoking cigarettes. The actresses-turned-fashionistas (who normally opt for all-black attire) chose to incorporate white into their wardrobe and, of course, were #twinning in their relatively summery ensembles. Also — let’s give a shout-out to Mary-Kate, whose impossibly relaxed pose is borderline iconic.
Naturally, this rare, candid moment of the stylish pair has Us feeling considerably less hip given their enviable sartorial savvy and overall DGAF vibes.
The Row designers — who have made a concerted attempt to separate themselves from their cheesy (albeit adorable) child star pasts — are still the epitome of effortless cool nearly three decades after they made their TV debut as infants playing Michelle Tanner on Full House.
When it comes to slaying the style game, the girls believe their dedication to vintage pieces has helped.
“There’s something nice about knowing you are the only person in the world who has it,” Mary-Kate, who married French banker Olivier Sarkozy, 47, last year, told InStyle earlier this month. “It’s sort of like buying art. For everything that we call modern today, think about pieces made in the ’20s and how modern they looked then and now.”
Ashley, who is reportedly dating artist George Condo, agreed that mixing old and new trends is key to crafting a perfect look. “Quality and scarcity,” she told the fashion mag. “You look at these pieces and you have an emotional reaction, not just because they are pretty objects, but because they look and feel different from what is possible to do currently.”
