Jillian Michaels is raising her 4-year-old son, Phoenix, right. “The little man works on his selfie skills,” the celebrity trainer wrote in an August 6 Instagram. “And yes, he got his ears pierced. His sister got hers pierced and he wanted his done. I wasn’t about to say, ‘That’s for girls.’” In the accompanying photo, the proud mom and her adorable little boy are seen smiling into the camera. On full display: his brand new jewelry.
The post received more than 12,000 likes. “Love that you let him! Gender norms are so oppressive,” wrote one person, while another raved: “What a wonderful Mama you are!”
The 42-year-old fitness guru and her yoga instructor fiancée, Heidi Rhoades, are also parents of daughter Lukensia, 6. They began dating in 2009.
Michaels proposed during the season finale of her E! reality series Just Jillian in March. In the episode, the ‘Biggest Loser’ alumna got down on bended knee at a movie theater with the couple’s family and friends in attendance.
In April, Michaels told ABC News that she and Rhoades were having a hard time agreeing on wedding venues.
“I would like to go to City Hall,” Michaels said. “Honest to God, it’s put one more thing on the plate. That’s why I’m like, ‘Why can’t we just go to City Hall? We don’t need the cake, and the thing, and the ovation, and the planner.’”
Meanwhile, Michaels also revealed that Rhoades was inspired by Angelina Jolie, whose 2014 wedding gown featured her children’s illustrations.
“She thinks it’ll be cute to allow the 3-year-old and the 6-year-old to have at it!” Michaels said. “Yeah, I don’t. I don’t know.”
As for Michaels? “No matter what I wear,” she said, “I plan on being in very good shape!”
