Returning to reality. Derek and Heather head back home to the U.S. on bad terms in Married at First Sight‘s Tuesday, August 30, episode, as seen in Us Weekly‘s exclusive sneak peek.
The FYI unscripted series’ preview clip shows the newlyweds packing up in their hotel room in Puerto Rico following a heated dinner the night before. The pair have had constant friction, with Heather complaining to Derek about his smoking. Meanwhile, the account executive hasn’t been pleased that the flight attendant has resisted getting affectionate with him.
“The honeymoon is over,” Derek, 35, tells the camera. “The honeymoon’s been over, but now it’s technically over. … Now she’s not talking to me at all — she’s not making any eye contact with me. She’s really distant.”
“As far as Heather and I go, I don’t know,” he continues. “I am disappointed and hurt — I feel like I did this with an open mind, and out of all the possibilities, I never would have imagined that I would be matched with somebody who would want to walk away from this after two or three days.”
For her part, Heather, 32, says to the camera, “I want to be married because I want to share my life with someone, but this isn’t the type of marriage I wanted to have.”
