He has won more Olympic gold medals than any other athlete, but Michael Phelps was “nervous” about getting raw egg on his face when he played Russian roulette with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show on Thursday, September 1.
But before the pair played the game with appropriately decorated eggs, the swimming champ, 31, talked about one of the funniest memes to come out of the 2016 Rio Olympics — Phelps’ precompetition angry face.
“As I’m making a face, I’m like, ‘Yep, that’s on camera. Someone will pick that one up tomorrow,'” the new dad explained as Fallon pulled out a life-size cutout of the image and joked that the angry face made him think, “Not only is he going to beat me at swimming, he’s going to murder me.”
Phelps also talked about Boomer, his 3-month-old son with fiancée Nicole Johnson, who became a ministar as he watched his dad from the stands in Rio while dressed in a series of adorable outfits.
The swimmer explained that he and the former Miss USA contestant “didn’t want a normal name” for their first-born child and had no backup name picked out for him. “He’s definitely going to be the cool kid,” he added, pointing out that Boomer has 670,000 followers. “He’s got to be the most followed baby in the world!”
Fallon also joked with Phelps about fellow swimmer Ryan Lochte‘s robbery scandal, with the champ smiling as he said that he “didn’t get the memo” to join Lochte and three other U.S. swimmers when they vandalized a gas station in Rio after a big night out.
