Iman Addresses David Bowie’s Death at ‘First Night Out’ Since His Passing

The HSN fashion designer, 61, stepped out for Tom Ford’s New York Fashion Week show on Wednesday, September 7, and opened up to Good Morning America’s Joe Zee about losing her husband and then her mother, Marian Abdulmajid, less than three months later. “It’s been a tough year, but I’m holding up,” she said.

Iman showed off a small gold necklace she was wearing in Bowie’s honor. “I’m wearing this until my death. [Fashion designer] Hedi Slimane made it for me,” she said. “It just says ‘David.’”

When Zee remarked that she’s a “survivor,” she said, “Not as much as you think.”

Prior to the red carpet, the fashion icon took to Instagram to share a photo of her beauty look. “My first night out attending an event since last year! Beat by @porschefabulous @imancosmetics #steppingout #imancosmetics,” she captioned the smiling selfie with her fully done makeup and her hair in a towel.

She later posted a snap with fellow model Cindy Crawford at the star-studded event. Besides her special necklace, Iman wore a blue velvet blazer with matching pants and large hoop earrings. She seemed to enjoy the outing, sharing one more photo of her completed look, writing, “Made it my first night out! Thanks @tomford for a very glam but intimate presentation #tomford.”
