JonBenet Ramsey Expert Gets Tasered in Attempt to Solve Her Murder in ‘The Case of: JonBenet Ramsey’ Sneak Peek

The three-part CBS docuseries centers on the renewed efforts of investigators including Jim Clemente, who was part of the original team to work on the still-unsolved December 1996 death of the 6-year-old pageant queen.

The preview clip shows the experts examining the theory of Detective Lou Smits, who believed that a taser may have been used to subdue Ramsey before her death in her family’s Boulder, Colorado, home. Sergeant Jay Wilson boldly volunteers to get tasered, and the team then asks about the experience.

“Adrenaline rush — it’s hard to stand still right now,” Wilson says immediately after the jolt. As to whether the instrument could be used to render someone unconscious, he adds, “I think, especially if you were asleep when that happened, [getting tasered would cause] fear and screaming and trying to get away from it.”

JonBenét’s case continues to generate interest, as the nearly 20-year-old murder remains unsolved despite multiple grand jury hearings. Her parents, John Ramsey and late ex-wife Patsy, were removed from the suspect list in 2008, while her brother Burke was exonerated by DNA evidence in 1999.

The murder has returned to the spotlight of late, with A&E’s The Killing of JonBenét: The Truth Uncovered running earlier this month and featuring the first airing of Burke’s 1998 interview with the district attorney’s office. Burke also appeared on Dr. Phil for a three-part interview, and a Lifetime film about the case is in the works.

Watch the intense clip in the video above. The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey premieres on CBS Sunday, September 18, at 8 p.m. ET.
