‘The Real Housewives of Orange County’ Recap: Heather Dubrow Blasts Meghan King Edmonds for Abandoning Vicki Gunvalson

Adding insult to injury? Vicki Gunvalson and Tamra Judge‘s scary desert incident continued to divide the ladies on the Real Housewives of Orange County‘s Monday, September 12, episode, leading Heather Dubrow to lay down the law.

With Friends Like These, Who Needs Hospital Visitors?

In spite of being in a horrific dune buggy accident that landed her in the hospital, Tamra was released from medical care in only five hours. She headed back to the campsite at Glamis Dunes, unsure what else to do beyond trying to salvage the trip she had planned for her husband’s birthday. Heather and Kelly Dodd were still there doing exactly what they’d been doing when the last episode ended: trying to get someone to go visit poor Vicki in the hospital.

Meghan King-Edmonds was still doing what she was doing last episode too: refusing to go see the OG Housewife. Heather and Kelly called Shannon Beador next, but if they thought she would go check on her old friend, they were dead wrong. Shannon was actually at Kelly’s playing golf because both had flaked on Tamra’s invite to the dunes!

Neither of them seemed to care that Vicki had been airlifted away from a horrible accident. Even though Meghan had attended Vicki’s private birthday party and promised the insurance maven they were moving forward together as friends just a few days prior, she told a furious Heather that Vicki wasn’t her pal and then challenged Heather to go visit the OG if it meant that much to her. (Heather and Kelly were hours away from the hospital; Meghan was 45 minutes away.) The brunette furiously hung up, then sent some nasty follow-up texts. Shannon and Meghan ignored them and went on with their golf game.

Over dinner, Shannon and Meghan justified their refusal to go see Vicki by attacking the other women. First, they went after Kelly for drinking a beer to calm down after the vehicle rolled; then they turned on Vicki for sending a photo of herself on a gurney after Meghan texted her to ask how she was feeling.

While they bonded in their own way, Kelly and Heather were bonding too. The two former foes hugged at the campsite, and Kelly even gushed to the camera about how loving, motherly and angelic Heather was!

Houseguest or House Pest?

For some reason, Shannon and Meghan called Tamra the next day, so Tamra slammed them for not going to see Vicki too.

They got defensive again, saying they didn’t appreciate being treated like they didn’t care that Vicki had to be hospitalized alone and was forced to Uber home in a paper gown and neck brace at 1 a.m. Tamra interrupted them, saying, “You know what, Meghan? Go to hell!”

Meghan must’ve taken it to heart because she went to visit Vicki at her home. The mom-to-be even worked up some tears as she said she was angry with Tamra for endangering three of the other women by driving recklessly.

Vicki cut to the chase and said, “I appreciate you coming over, but I don’t know why it takes a near-death experience to have compassion. Heather told me that you said, ‘She’s your friend. Why would I go?’”

Meghan’s defense was that Heather was annoying her by asking her to go see Vicki and that she hadn’t realized the accident was serious. After saying that, Meghan started crying again, then apologized. Vicki hugged her and all seemed well enough for the moment.

(Neck) Bracing for Impact

No one was angrier with Tamra than she was with herself. Not only did she feel guilty for hurting her pals, but she was scared the accident might prevent her from participating in the fitness competition she’d been working toward! She questioned whether to postpone her big competition debut but didn’t make a decision yet …

Also, no one was angrier with Meghan than Heather was. She went along with Kelly and Tamra to visit Vicki later in the day, and when Heather learned that the MLB wife had been over, she freaked out. It took Meghan longer to drive to the OG’s house than it would have for her to cut her golf game short and see her in the hospital. Once Vicki revealed that Meghan had unloaded on Tamra for being “reckless,” it was on. True to form, the Housewives called for a confrontation with Shannon to sort things out.

Over dinner, Shannon got defensive for the third time, so Heather and Tamra asked if she was jealous of Vicki getting sympathetic attention, and then, of course, everyone started to fight. The only logical solution was for Heather to schedule a new confrontation. She planned a lunch with Meghan herself.

Ding, Ding: Round Two!

Meghan showed up to the lunch and told Heather she was battling depression. Heather countered that she was sure she herself had PTSD from the accident.

Not to be derailed, Meghan got to the point and told Heather she was upset to have been hung up on. Next, they got into one of the best fights of the season because instead of yelling, they whispered angrily back and forth. Why? Who knows! Meghan called Heather theatrical and patronizing; Heather called her “so rude.” As she did with Vicki, Meghan acquiesced and apologized, bringing the majestic low-volume fight to a premature end unfortunately.

Tell Us: Did Heather handle the situation correctly? And should Tamra have confronted Meghan like Heather did?
