Someone’s excited! The Fifty Shades Darker trailer has set a new record for the most-viewed trailer in its first 24 hours. The steamy sequel’s teaser scored a whopping 114 million views across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and other various digital platforms, dethroning previous title holder Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Variety reports. The Force Awakens had 112 million views.
In the clip released on Tuesday, September 13, stars Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele) and Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) swap their blindfolds for masquerade masks.
“This time, no rules, no punishments and no more secrets,” Anastasia tells Christian in the teaser after flaunting her body in sexy lingerie.
Dornan also shows off his insanely buff body in the trailer. Anastasia — clad in one of the business mogul’s shirts — watches as he does pull-ups in his impressive-looking apartment before getting down and dirty with him in a shower scene.
Kim Basinger also makes her debut. The Oscar-winning actress plays Elena Lincoln, Grey’s former lover.
The trailer marks the first look at the movie we’ve seen so far, which is based off the erotic trilogy by E L James. On Monday, September 12, a 19-second teaser was released. “Tomorrow, slip into something a shade darker,” text read in the super short clip before it flashed Anastasia unwrapping a box as Christian whispered, “Intrigued?”
Fifty Shades Darker is scheduled to hit theaters on Valentine’s Day 2017.
