Ready for more? The first teaser trailer for Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to the 2015 erotic film based on the smash book trilogy by EL James, debuted on Monday, September 12.
Ahead of the Tuesday, September 13, release of the full trailer, Christian Grey, played by Jamie Dornan, and Anastasia Steele, portrayed by Dakota Johnson, turn up the heat in a 19-second clip. “Tomorrow, slip into something a shade darker,” the text reads.
The steamy trailer opens with fireworks, then flashes to Anastasia standing in sky-high heels and unwrapping a box with a lacy, gray mask inside. “Intrigued?” Christian whispers in her ear, while standing over her shoulder.
Fifty Shades Darker is sure to be full of racy sex scenes, but Johnson, 26, has previously said she’s “over” filming those intimate moments. “Well we’re not having actual sex. But I’ve been simulating sex for seven hours straight right now, and I’m over it,” she told Interview magazine back in April while shooting the sequel.
While the actress may be tired of the risqué material, fans just can’t get enough. Over the weekend, James surprised her Facebook followers with an excerpt from another new book in the franchise, tentatively called Fifty Shades Darker from Christian’s Point of View. Similar to the adaptation of the original into the businessman’s perspective, the novel will give insight into what Christian is thinking as the same events unfold.
Fifty Shades Darker is scheduled to hit theaters on Valentine’s Day 2017.
