More chaos — and more sniffles. Donald Trump cut off Hillary Clinton on several occasions during the second presidential debate in St. Louis, Missouri, on Sunday, October 9.
Per Bustle, the media mogul, 70, interjected 18 times when Clinton, 68, tried to speak. In fact, in just one instance, when co-moderator Anderson Cooper asked Clinton about her private email server debacle, Trump spoke out of turn six times.
“Please allow her to respond,” Cooper, 49, said. “She didn’t talk while you talked.”
Even cool-customer Clinton appeared to get frustrated. “OK, Donald, I know you’re into big diversion tonight,” she said after an interjection. “Anything to avoid talking about your campaign and the way it’s exploding. And the way Republicans are leaving you.” (On Friday, a 2005 video of Trump and Billy Bush making misogynistic remarks was released by The Washington Post. Prominent members of the GOP, including Paul Ryan, immediately withdrew their support from Trump.)
Clinton, on the other hand, only interrupted Trump once when he blamed her for President Bashar al-Assad’s use of chemical weapons in Syria. “First of all, she’s there with the so-called line in the sand,” Trump said.
The former sectary of state chimed in: “No, I wasn’t. I was gone. I hate to interrupt you, but at some point we need to do some fact-checking.”
Last month, Trump interrupted Clinton 51 times during the first presidential debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York on September 26.
The former Celebrity Apprentice host didn’t just interrupt during the town hall event. Just like the last debate, he couldn’t stop sniffling. According to The Wrap, he sniffled roughly 93 times during the 90-minute debate on Sunday.
