Permission not easily granted. Tom Wilson tries to sell himself to wife Lilian Vilchez‘s family in Married at First Sight‘s Tuesday, October 11, episode, as seen in Us Weekly‘s exclusive sneak peek.
The FYI relationship series’ preview clip shows Wilson meeting up with his mother-in-law, Delia, to ask for Lillian’s hand in marriage, despite the pair having already tied the knot. The newlyweds experienced friction in last week’s episode, with Tom telling his wife she was making her job a priority over the marriage.
“I just want Delia’s approval — it would be a milestone,” Wilson tells the camera. “It means a lot to me. I definitely have strong feelings for Lillian, even though we’ve had bad times.”
“Married life has so far exceeded my expectations,” he continues. “Even though we are married, I am trying my best to keep things traditional in a non-traditional wedding, so this is a perfect opportunity to ask [Lillian’s mom] for permission to marry her. … I don’t know what to expect.”
However, all does not go as planned, given that Delia’s native language is Spanish, and she has trouble understanding much of what Wilson tells her about the couple’s ups and downs.
“What should I know about Lily?” Wilson asks Lillian’s mom. “Lily is a very good person.” Sadly, Delia doesn’t appear to follow any of this.
A previously released clip from the episode showed Sonia Granados‘ father grilling Nick Pendergrast about his “expectation” for their marriage.
