UPDATE 10/10 12:22 p.m. ET: During his second concert in Chicago on Saturday, October 8, Kanye West told the audience: “I can safely say that tonight is a victory. If your dreams keep you up a night, and your ideas keep you up at night, then your vision will come alive.”

Getting back to business. Kanye West returned to the stage in Chicago on Friday, October 7, five days after he stopped a show abruptly upon hearing that his wife, Kim Kardashian, was robbed at gunpoint in Paris.

The 39-year-old rapper — who canceled two concerts earlier this week — did not directly address the terrifying incident, only stopping briefly in his set to give a shout-out to his hometown, according to the Chicago Tribune. “It’s good to be home,” he said.

On Sunday, October 2, West pulled the plug on his set at the Meadows Music & Arts Festival in NYC an hour early due to a “family emergency.” Tens of thousands of concertgoers were left angry and confused after the “Famous” rapper dashed off the Citi Field stage.

It was later revealed that West’s “family emergency” was Kardashian’s headline-making ordeal, during which five men dressed as police entered her luxury apartment building in Paris, held her at gunpoint and tied her up and gagged her as they stole jewelry worth more than $10 million.

According to a Paris-based source, one of the suspects asked the concierge, “Where is the wife of the rapper?” before confronting the reality star, 35, in her residence at the Hôtel de Pourtalès.

In the days that followed, new details slowly emerged from the case, including the fact that the Selfish author felt suspicious about the concierge’s calm demeanor amid the chaos. (The suspects reportedly had a gun pointed at his head when he unlocked the door to Kardashian’s apartment.)

“What’s confusing to police is how a low-ranking night staffer had such easy key access to the VIP apartments,” a source told Us, adding that police “remain baffled at the apparent ease with which he was able to guide the robbers straight to the star’s bedroom.”

On Friday, October 7, the concierge reportedly penned an open letter to Kardashian to explain his behavior that day.

“Dear Kim: When you feel the cold steel of a gun at your neck, it is the moment when remaining calm can mean the difference of life or death, both our lives,” the 40-year-old hotel employee wrote in French celebrity magazine Closer, according to TMZ. “I hope you are feeling better.”
