Throwing the book at her! A beauty pageant’s judges aren’t pleased after a contestant performs a routine involving a crucifix on Little Miss Atlanta‘s Wednesday, October 12, episode, as seen in Us Weekly‘s exclusive first look.
The TLC unscripted series’ preview clip shows Kevisha telling the camera that her 10-year-old daughter, Heaven, doesn’t feel the need to fit into a box.
“Heaven is very talented, and I’m talking about raw talent — not trained,” Kevisha explains. “She don’t want to be fake — she wants to show her diva attitude because she was born to be a diva, not a fake doll baby.”
Heaven’s performance begins with her on a cross, followed by an intense rap about religion. “Yeah, I love God. You don’t love God? What’s wrong with you?” she raps. “You ain’t got no money moving by yourself.”
Judge Antoinette Chapman is not impressed, and she tells the camera, “I’ve always looked at Miss America because I’m that generation, so you smile through it all, and Heaven didn’t smile. She came out, and she did what she had to do, but she didn’t smile.”
Kevisha, for her part, offers a different appraisal: “That’s talent, baby. I have never seen a child at the age of 10 [who] can do that.”
Meanwhile, Jayniece, whose daughter Jai also rapped at the pageant, is a bit taken aback by Heaven’s act. “I saw a cross, and it was written with some pen or something,” she says to the camera. “I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, really?’ She’s a little out there.”
