Too hasty to pull the plug? Heather Seidel and Derek Schwartz have their first encounter since their divorce in Married at First Sight‘s Tuesday, October 4, episode, as seen in Us Weekly‘s exclusive sneak peek.
The FYI series’ preview clip shows the pair greeting each for the first time since they became the only couple in the series’ history to call it quits midway through the season. They were unable to move past their friction during the honeymoon, with the pair sparring over Schwartz’s smoking and Seidel’s reluctance to touch her husband.
“I can see me being friends with Derek — he is a nice person,” Seidel tells relationship expert Rachel DeAlto. “I saw those qualities day one.”
The flight attendant continues to the camera, “Looking back on our time in Puerto Rico is bittersweet. There were high hopes. There were so many really good moments that could have blossomed into something bigger.”
For his part, Schwartz says to the camera, “Seeing Heather, it’s nice — it feels nice. It brings back all the memories and good times Heather and I had together.”
Indeed, Seidel appears to have second thoughts about opting out of their marriage so soon. “I think it could have been so different — it makes me wonder, Did I jump the gun?” she tells the camera. “Seeing Derek again brings back those feelings [from] when I first saw him. Maybe I made a mistake getting divorced.”
