Laura Benanti Parodies Melania Trump’s Interview With Anderson Cooper

Round 2! Laura Benanti parodied Melania Trump once more during The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Tuesday, October 18. This time, the actress-singer, 37, reenacted the businesswoman’s CNN interview with Anderson Cooper.

As previously reported, Trump, 46, sat down with the veteran journalist, 49, to discuss her husband Donald Trump’s sexist tape scandal. Earlier this month, The Washington Post released 2005 footage of the GOP presidential candidate, 70, bragging to Billy Bush about groping women. Bush, 45, has since been fired from NBC’s Today show for his role in the controversy.

Benanti dressed the part of Melania during her late-night stint. She wore a sleeveless dress similar to the former model’s and pursed her lips as she discussed the incident with Stephen Colbert. She even took a couple of digs at Bush.

“Have you forgiven your husband?” Colbert, 52, asked.

Benanti, who previously parodied Melania’s plagiarism scandal, shook her head no until she eyed someone off camera. “Ooh … yes!” she quipped, quickly changing her answer. “He explained it was locker-room talk. I did not know this, but when American men gather to sport they always brag of grabbing women by the Billy Bush.”

“I hate to point this out, but your husband isn’t a boy, he’s a 70-year-old man,” Colbert said.

“Boys, men — it’s the same,” Benanti replied. “No matter how nice they seem, secretly they’re all foul-mouthed Billy Bush–grabbing pigs. … They’re all animals. If only a woman could be president.”

During the real sit-down with Cooper on Monday, Melania said that her husband was “egged on” by Bush at the time. Additionally, she slammed women who have come forward accusing the former Celebrity Apprentice host of sexual misconduct.

The third and final presidential debate is on Wednesday, October 19. The mogul and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton will take the stage at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas at 9 p.m. ET.
