“I like my thirties way more than my twenties,” the “Make Me…” singer, 34, said during an appearance on British talk show Lorraine on Thursday, September 29. “My twenties were horrible! [Being] in my teens was fun, but I like my thirties. … You know who you really are”

As the world knows, Spears had her most dramatic ups and downs during those years. One of the world’s most famous and commercially dominant pop stars of the time, she also had two failed marriages. In 2004, she married Jason Alexander at age 22 in a spontaneous Vegas wedding, but had the marriage annulled after just 55 hours. Later the same year, she married her backup dancer Kevin Federline.

Spears and Federline split in 2006 and embarked on a nasty custody battle, sparking the singer’s infamous meltdown period, in which she shaved her head, attacked a paparazzo’s car with an umbrella and entered rehab for drugs and alcohol.

In her thirties, the pop superstar has settled into her single life with her sons, Sean Preston, 11, and Jayden, 10, and has scored yet another major comeback with her ninth studio album, Glory.

“I’m in a really good place right now. I’m loving myself every day and learning who I am. It’s awakening, it’s cool.” she said. ““It’s OK to be single!” After her second marriage ended, she was engaged to Hollywood agent Jason Trawick, but the pair broke it off in 2013. She then went on to date David Lucado and producer Charlie Ebersol.

Like most moms, Spears can’t believe how fast her kids are growing up. “It’s a little strange because I’m nervous,” she said. “I know 12 and 13 and 14 and 15 is going to be really scary, and I’m going to be like, ‘Mom — please come to the house and help me out here! But right now it’s a great age. They’re still babies!”

Last week, the “…Baby One More Time” singer posted an Instagram video of her sons, who she called “little pranksters,” scaring her half to death. “Gotta get those boys back,” she said, adding that she hasn’t plotted her revenge yet. “I don’t really plan it. It just kind of happens.”
