‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival: Are Rory’s Guys All Garbage? Here’s the Worst Thing Each Did to Her

The internet has come up with about nine million reasons why each of Rory’s exes — Dean (Jared Padalecki), Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) and Logan (Matt Czuchry) — were, respectively, the best and worst fit for her on Gilmore Girls. But here’s what everyone’s forgetting: No matter how nostalgic they make us or how ridiculously good-looking each of them were, those dudes all totally did Rory (Alexis Bledel) wrong at one point or another. Tsk, tsk, internet.

And guess what? They’re all coming back. It’s been confirmed that Dean, Jess and Logan will all appear in the revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, when it premieres later this month. Before fans continue shipping their favorite ex, though, let’s remember the worst things each of them did to Rory … before it’s too late.

Dean was too damn jealous.

Dean was the epitome of a first high school boyfriend. He was sweet, he gave Rory her first kiss, he built her a freakin’ car. When he confessed his love, Rory finally confessed hers with the iconic line: “I love you, you idiot!” All was peachy until Dean became way too jealous and controlling over her.

Things really got bad when Jess moved into town, and Dean noticed he and Rory were developing feelings for each other. Dean became so mad and insecure, his feelings reached a breaking point at the 24-hour dance marathon, where he broke up with Rory on the spot, and publicly, in front of everyone. Who does that?! Not cool, man. Not cool.

Jess was a hot mess.

Jess had eyes only for Rory — literally, she was the only person on the planet he actually liked. Which would’ve been sweet, if he wasn’t so angry all the time. Moreover, he just didn’t have it together. He wasn’t mature enough, he wasn’t graduating high school and he — *gasp* — didn’t even take her to prom.

After his estranged dad showed up at Luke’s diner, Luke (Scott Patterson) threw Jess out, and the erudite bad boy left Stars Hollow without even telling Rory. He unexpectedly dropped off the face of the earth, leaving Rory totally crushed. People don’t forget, Jess.

Logan was blinded by money.

Logan was adventurous, handsome and charming as hell — there’s no denying that. Although he said stupid things like “Rich dudes need love, too,” he redeemed himself with extravagant gestures like buying Rory a coffee cart and barista. But regardless of his irritating family, and that he slept with his older sister’s friends when he and Rory took a break, no amount of money could ultimately save him.

Over-the-top gestures couldn’t fix the fact that he didn’t support Rory when she needed him most, neglecting her and her work, which caused a major rift in their relationship. We assume he’s living even more lavishly now that he’s across the pond. Rory needs an attentive man, not a man attentive to his cash.
