‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Recap: Kenya Moore Calls Sheree Whitfield a ‘Ho,’ Gets Back Together With Matt Jordan

Home is where the heart is, whether there are baseboards in or not. The November 13 episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta picked up in the midst of Kenya Moore‘s housewarming party (which she decided to throw despite the fact that the house wasn’t quite done yet). Phaedra Parks arrived with Porsha Williams as her plus-one since Kenya hadn’t extended an invite to Porsha directly.

Sheree Whitfield was thrilled with the prospect of having a ringside seat to the likely fight between Kenya and Porsha — but she didn’t get to watch the way she’d hoped.

Kenya Kicks Porsha Out

In an attempt to keep things calm, Kenya asked Porsha if she could step outside to have a quick chat rather than discussing things in front of Cynthia Bailey, Kandi Buruss, Phaedra and Sheree. “I don’t want to make this uncomfortable or anything, but I didn’t extend an invitation to you because of some things that had happened at previous events,” Kenya began. She didn’t actually get to the point where she officially asked Porsha to leave because Porsha understood what she was saying and volunteered to go.

“That was a little awkward,” Porsha said as she and Phaedra left the event. Because she seemed determined to stir the pot, Sheree ran after them to get a play-by-play, but it didn’t seem to work, as Porsha was determined to keep her cool and prove her anger-management classes had paid off.

Later, Sheree and Porsha met for lunch, where Sheree again tried to needle Porsha about getting kicked out. “I cannot speculate why she behaves the way she does,” Porsha sighed. Sheree commented that when you are a strong black woman, people often label you as a bitch.

Matt Shows Up at Kenya’s Party

But Porsha was hardly the only uninvited guest to show up at the party — Kenya’s ex Matt Jordan came too. When he arrived, he coaxed Kenya into having a private chat with him (presumably so he could try to win her back). Kandi rolled her eyes and said that clearly Kenya wasn’t as set on moving on from Matt as she’d claimed.

Once it was just the two of them, Matt immediately got busy apologizing. “I did bad. I was wrong. I was really wrong,” he said. Kenya explained he had been her “protector,” so seeing him act the way he had led her to feel “scared.” Matt said he realized he was at risk of losing his “queen,” which Kenya obviously liked hearing. Then he asked for another chance.

“I feel like you betrayed me. I feel like you have to build that trust up again for me to open my heart,” she said. She explained to the camera why she gave him another go. “Matt is a man who truly loves me, who wants to do right by me,” she said, adding that men like that are hard to find.

Cynthia Struggles With Her Divorce

Unlike Kenya, Cynthia wasn’t giving the man in her life another chance and instead was trying to track him down to get in touch with her lawyer so they could move their divorce along. Though Peter Thomas had been in town for a few days, he hadn’t reached out to her attorney and she was getting frustrated. The two finally met up at a local coffee shop where Peter readily admitted he didn’t feel ready to come see her yet.

After a few pleasantries that included giving Peter his mail from their house, Cynthia got to the point. “You really need to call [the lawyer] back,” she said. Peter tensed and argued it was “just not a priority” in his life right now. “If this is how this process is going to go, we’re going to be getting a divorce for a long time,” Cynthia sighed to the camera.

Peter then changed his tone and told Cynthia that a few days earlier he’d had a tight feeling in his chest that made him worry he was having a heart attack so he’d gone to the hospital. While he was there, they asked who his emergency contact was and it dawned on him that she would not be that anymore. Cynthia first said that she still cared about him and would take that call, but he seemed to think that would not be appropriate.

“You’ve been my friend for eight years,” Cynthia said as tears welled in her eyes. “People say when you get divorced you can’t be friends.… I still want to be friends with you.” She got choked up as she added, “I love you. I respect you. I just can’t be married to you.”

Something softened in Peter upon hearing that and he called her lawyer right then and there while they sat at the table. It was still far from over, but they were making progress.

Kenya Confronts Sheree

In an attempt to bring the ladies together without having any fights break out, Porsha organized a day for them to go to an “escape room” where they get clues to figure out how to get out of an enclosed space. (It was as weird as it sounds.) They broke up into groups with the idea that people who had sparred in the past might learn to work together toward a common goal. Phaedra, Sheree and Kandi were one team, while Porsha, Cynthia and Kenya were another. Unfortunately, neither team succeeded at getting out of their respective rooms — and unfortunately, the day didn’t end without a fight.

After the exercise was over, Kenya confronted Sheree about rumors she’d heard that Sheree had been throwing shade at her over her house not being done before she threw the party. Sheree admitted she had noticed a few things that needed to be completed and that other people noticed them too. “I felt like you still had a lot of work to do,” she explained before setting her purse down so she wouldn’t be tempted to hit Kenya with it.

On Sheree’s list of grievances about things that were incomplete in Moore Manor were a leaky sink and a lack of baseboards and crown molding. “I don’t do trim,” Kenya quipped, claiming the baseboards weren’t missing because she never planned on having any.

“You need to do trim!” Sheree screamed. (Apparently Sheree feels very strongly about trim.) The fight then devolved into whether Sheree’s house was in her name or her mother’s name. They continued shouting over each other until Kenya called Sheree a ho and then stormed off.
