Saving the planet in style! This year, Patagonia donated all of its Black Friday retail and online sales to charity, giving a whopping $10 million to a host of nonprofits that focus on saving the planet.

The outdoor clothing brand announced its do-good plan in a November 20 post on their blog, The Cleanest Line. “This year Patagonia will donate 100% of its global Black Friday sales to grassroots organizations working in local communities to protect our air, water and soil for future generations. These are small groups, often underfunded and under the radar, who work on the frontlines,” the Ventura, California, based brand wrote.

And on November 28, they confirmed that the ante had been upped in a very big way. “We expected to reach $2 million in sales — we beat that expectation five times over,” a blog post stated. “The enormous love our customers showed to the planet on Black Friday enables us to give every penny to hundreds of grassroots environmental organizations working around the world.”

That financial support is pretty telling, according to the label. “The science is telling us loud and clear: We have a problem,” the November 28 post continued. “By getting active in communities, we can raise our voices to defend policies and regulations that will protect wild places and wildlife, reduce carbon emissions, build a modern energy economy based on investment in renewables, and, most crucially, ensure the United States remains fully committed to the vital goals set forth in the Paris Agreement on climate change.”

Although Patagonia hasn’t listed the specific “underfunded and under the radar” organizations that they’re supporting, previous causes have included the Earth Day Initiative, the Coalition for Clean Air, Keep the Reservoir Beautiful and more.
