Keo Woolford, Hawaii Five-0’s Detective James Chang, Dies at 49 After Suffering Stroke

Keo Woolford, best known for his role as Detective James Chang on Hawaii Five-0, passed away on Monday, November 28, his publicist confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter. He was 49.

The actor died at a hospital in Oahu, Hawaii, three days after suffering a stroke.

Woolford wrote, directed and produced the 2013 independent film The Haumana and was working on a sequel. He also appeared in 1999’s Happy, Texas, 2006’s Falling for Grace and 2014’s Godzilla. In addition to his film and television career, Woolford was also a member of Hawaiian boy band Brownskin and starred in more than 300 performances of The King & I.

His Hawaii Five-0 costars took to social media to mourn the loss.

Costar Daniel Dae Kim tweeted: “As talented as you were, I will remember you most for your kindness. Thank you for sharing your light with us, @KeoWoolford. Rest In Peace.”
