Matthew Broderick and Kyra Sedgwick Reveal They Dated in High School

Say what?! Matthew Broderick and Kyra Sedgwick appeared together on Watch What Happens Live on Tuesday, November 29, and revealed that they used to date in high school.

During a game of “High School Who-perlatives,” the high school sweethearts confessed that they used to sneak out of class to meet up and smoke in a stairwell at New York City’s private Walden School. “Did we date?” Broderick, now 54, asked Sedgwick, 51, who replied, “I kinda think maybe a little.”

“I didn’t know if it was OK to say that,” the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off actor said with a smile, as the Closer alum added, “Yeah, no, me neither, but we’re married so long. We’re so boring! We need this. This is good for our careers!”

Broderick quipped that he was “making it up” after host Andy Cohen freaked out. “No, we’re not, really,” Sedgwick countered. “We kind of went back and forth a lot … for a few years!”

The two-time Tony Award winner then pointed out that he met Sedgwick’s mom, Patricia, who was in the WWHL audience. “Wow, you legit did [date],” Cohen exclaimed. “You didn’t tell me that!”

The former couple denied the talk show host’s comment that they knew each other “connubially,” though. “Never before I got married,” the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actress stated.
