Bethenny Frankel, this is your life. As the host of her own talk show, former reality TV star Bethenny Frankel is used to putting her guests in the hot seat. But the tables are about to turn. On Monday, Oct. 14, Bravo exec and Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen appears on the Skinnygirl mogul’s eponymous daytime series and brings with him a blast from Frankel’s past — her audition tape from The Real Housewives of New York!
“Speaking of awkward moments, I brought something to surprise you with,” Cohen says, as a nervous Frankel mutters “Oh, God” under her breath. “I love on my show to open the vault and look into the past,” he continues. “This is Bethenny’s audition tape for The Real Housewives of New York.”
Cohen then plays a highlight reel from the tape, in which the Bethenny Ever After alum talks about her life in New York, her career as a “natural foods chef,” and her personal driver (who has a terrible sense of direction). All the while, present-day Frankel can be seen cringing and covering her face in disbelief.
“That was painful,” she says when the tape stops. “That’s why I made it on the show?”
Cohen explains that the producers thought she was “very funny” during the bit with her driver. “But I also loved the list of celebrities,” he quips.
“Oh my God, please kill me now,” Frankel pleads. “I just want to die. I really do.”
Cohen then says he wants to show one more part of the audition tape — a clip of the ex-Bravo star talking about former BFF Jill Zarin. (The women famously had a falling out in 2009.)
“I met Jill through a mutual friend at a dinner, and I’ve run into her at a bunch of different social events, and she’s just a nut job, I can just tell,” Frankel says in the clip. “So, I like her. I mean, she walks up to me, and she says to me at a party, ‘Skinny bitch.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, first of all, you used the word skinny and you’re referring to me. We can be friends. If bitch is attached to it, I can live with that.'”
The clip goes on like that for a few more seconds. When it ends, Frankel turns to Cohen and says incredulously, “What a foreshadowing!”
