Can the world handle two Simon Cowells? Fans may soon find out. In a new interview with Extra's Terri Seymour (who just happens to be his ex-girlfriend), the British X Factor judge revealed that he'd like to pass on his name — among other things — to the baby son he's expecting with girlfriend Lauren Silverman.
"My number one choice is Simon because I like the name," he told Seymour of what he and Silverman plan to call their little bundle of joy. And his second choice? Eric, after the 53-year-old American Idol alum's dad.
"His birthday is going to be very close to my dad's birthday," Cowell explained of his baby-to-be, noting that his late father would be "very proud" and "amazed" to have a grandson.
The outspoken Brit may also take something else from his dad — a laid-back approach to parenting. "Be cool about it. You know, don't worry about things too much," he told Seymour of his child-rearing philosophy. "The way me and my brother were brought up, I mean, it was kind of relaxed. There were no self-help books or any of that crazy stuff."
"I want to teach him how to do my job as quickly as possible," he joked of his son. "I want to pass the reins over. I really would like the idea of teaching him how to run the business."
And that's not all he'll teach him. "I'm not brilliant with babies. I never know what to do. But [once he's older] I think I'll be a good dad in terms of advice," Cowell confessed in a recent interview with Parade magazine. "And then I'll get to do all the things I want to do, like go to Disneyland or Universal Studios, teach him how to drive — I love all that."
