"I'm momma Grey and we're having a dinner party," 54-year-old Harden explained of her role. "'Do come over to the dinner party? Oh, did you like your meal? Oh lovely. Oh, would you like another cocktail. Oh, perfect.' That's my experience," she explained of her character as Dr. Grace Trevelyan Grey, the family matriarch in the series.

"But you know that you're a part of something so much bigger," she explained of Fifty Shades' significance. "You're part of an event. Because everybody reads this book."

In a Tuesday interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Oscar winner admitted that she "shame-read" the raunchy book to prepare for her role. "It's like, unless you're in the red playroom with a toy in your hand and flesh on your face, it's sort of like any other movie that you could do," she said to EW.

Harden also revealed some details about costars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. "He's just had a baby. He's a sweet guy. He does surfing," Harden told BBC of the dreamy actor. "He sings a little Irish ditties occasionally… or sometimes, Rita Ora, who's in it." (Singer Ora plays Dornan's sister Mia Grey in the movie.)
