Material Khaleesi! It turns out that the costume Madonna wore to channel Game of Thrones heroine Daenerys Targaryen for Purim was actually the real deal. Actress Emilia Clarke appeared on the Tonight Show Wednesday, March 19, and confirmed to Jimmy Fallon that it was the same exact costume she wears on the show.
“It’s my real costume,” 26-year-old Clarke said. “I thought I was dreaming. I got an email from amazing HBO publicist Mara, saying, ‘Madonna would like to borrow the costume, is that okay?'”
“I thought, ‘God, this must be a dream. This can’t be real,'” the British actress continued.
Madonna, 55, shared yet another Instagram photo of herself dressed as Daenerys on Thursday. “Need my Dragons today!” she captioned the pic, which again included two little dragons perched on both shoulders. (On the HBO smash series, Clarke’s character is often referred to as the “Mother of Dragons” for well, the three dragons she helped hatch herself.)
Clarke told reporters at the NYC premiere of Game of Thrones on Tuesday, March 18, that she was bowled over by Madonna’s tribute. “It’s really flattering,” Clarke gushed. “She looked incredible. She could come on the show. She’d do good!” the actress said with a laugh.
The fourth season of Game of Thrones returns to HBO on Sunday, April 6.
