Usher was victorious in court on Friday — winning primary custody of sons Usher Raymond V, 4, Naviyd, 3, in a contentious battle with ex-wife Tameka Foster.
"It's a relief it's over," an insider tells Us Weekly, confirming the news first reported on TMZ. "An independent party looked at the evidence and did the right thing." Foster, TMZ reports, has retained "some custodial rights" in the ruling.
The 33-year-old "Scream" singer's triumph over ex Foster is something of a surprise after an often ugly court war, with both Usher and Foster lobbying accusations against one another.
Back in May, Usher (full named: Usher Terry Raymond IV) broke down in tears on the witness stand when Foster's attorney accused him of cheating and neglecting his young kids.
The warring exes, who split in 2009 after two years of marriage, had a brief cease fire over the summer after Foster's 11-year-old son Kile Glover was gravely injured in a lake accident. Usher rushed to the hospital to visit his belove former stepson, who passed away in late July.
"Tameka and Usher don't get along, but in this circumstance Usher is coming to her side," a source told Us at the time of Kile's hospitalization. "Usher practically raised Kile as his own. He's known him for seven years. It is so sad what happened."
