It's been just three months since Lamar Odom was traded by the Los Angeles Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks, and he's already been demoted — for now.

Khloe Kardashian's hubby, 32, was reassigned to Dallas' D-League (Development League) on Friday, ESPN confirms.

The switch comes after Odom, whose California-based father has fallen very ill, took a week-long leave with the team to tend to family matters.

A source tells ESPN that the star forward is set to play at least one game with the Frisco, TX-based minor league team the Texas Legends in order to "get his legs back under him" for conditioning reasons before he makes his return with the Mavericks.

After missing several scheduled practices with the Mavericks, Odom's endurance is at risk for not being at "pro" level.

On Tuesday, when the Mavericks hosted the New Jersey Nets (Odom's ex-brother-in-law Kris Humphries' team), the team's owner Mark Cuban explained that "Odom would get as much time as necessary to work through a family matter."

"[Odom is] dealing with issues and like we do with anybody else who's had personal issues, my job is to help him out and not to comment beyond that," Cuban told reporters. "He has to clear things out and that's what we're trying to help him do."
