Kim Kardashian is back on American soil.

The newly-single star returned to the States Friday with her sister, Khloe, and brother-in-law, Lamar Odom, after an abbreviated four-day promotional trip to Australia.

Clad in head-to-toe black and hiding behind sunglasses, Kardashian, 31, fought her way through a mob of fans and photographers at LAX airport, one day after pulling the plug on a series of promo obligations in Melbourne and elsewhere this weekend.

Kardashian had been expected to make an appearance at the Melbourne Cup Carnival for Swisse vitamins marquee on Saturday, for which she was reportedly to be paid $150,000. Last-minute, reps attempted to convince Khloe to attend on her distraught sister's behalf, but she declined.

Opening up to Australia's Kyle and Jackie O show Wednesday — two days after she filed for divorce from Kris Humphries — Kardashian said she is trying to stay positive in the wake of her split.

"I'm trying to do the best I can, and it's actually a bit of an escape to come here," she said during the videotaped radio interview.

Prior to her chat Down Under, Kardashian took to her personal blog to slam reports that her wedding — aired as a four-hour E! TV special — was a sham.

"I don't think I'm ready to go into, you know, the details of what went on in my marriage," she wrote. "But I do want to make clear that I would never marry for a TV show, for money, for anything like that. I think that's really ridiculous that I have to even defend that."
