Pia Toscano's early American Idol exit Thursday may have been a shocker, but Idol devotees know full well that the 22-year-old is hardly the first contestant to be booted too soon.

For her part, Toscano seems at peace with having to say goodbye.
"You don't know for sure why things happen, but you know, it did!" Toscano told reporters during a Friday conference call. "It was my time to go on the show and I'm excited to see what my future holds."
